Packing Guide


To Start the Race

In backpack - 

Separated for wearing on body at start of race:

  • Booties and wool socks or no socks

  • Gators

  • Waterproof gloves

  • Pants/shorts

  • Shirt

  • Shoes (we’ll have to decide if we want shoes until shoreline or booties work for morning and putting shoes in bike boxes)

  • Hydration pack with all food for paddle and 3 glow sticks, whistle

  • Hat with a bill

  • Sunglasses


In or on bag:

  • Rain Coat

  • Waterproof pants

  • Lightweight waterproof gloves

  • Personal items and medications (in waterproof bag if desired)

  • 32 ounce water bottle

  • Emergency Blanket

  • Locking carabiner 


In waterproof bag in backpack:

  • Sleeping bag/emergency sleeping bag in with

  • 2 pairs Long underwear

  • Mid layer

  • Beanie/Face mask

  • 2 pairs of socks

  • Headlamp

  • Small Quick Dry Towel


Rescue Shared Items for every leg - have to be on one of us

  • 1 Strobe  (set of spare batteries)

  • 2 compasses

  • First Aid Kit

  • 4 snake bandages

  • Altimeter watch

  • Shockproof Camera

  • Straps

  • Zip ties, trash bags, ziplock

  • 2 Lifestraws

  • Matches/lighter

  • Knife

  • Wipes

  • TP

  • Bleach Wipes

  • Notebook, Pen

  • Sunscreen

  • Lipbalm


Kayak Rescue bags and gear

  • Tara and Soyer have throw ropes

  • PDFs

  • Paddles

  • Extra Glow Sticks

  • Kayak Bag if can’t leave in bike box


In bike box at start:

  • Kayak Bag if can

  • Food for 3 days 

    • Through day - bars and snacks, peanut butter rolls in tortillas

    • Day 1 Dinner 

      • Dinner Ramen noodles, bagged chicken or tuna

      • Drink veggie powder or vitamins

      • Oil

    • Day 2 breakfast, lunch…  bars and snacks

    • Day 2 Dinner Pancakes, eggs and sausage (or soups if make it to TA4)

  • Cookware/Stove/Fuel

  • Extra Artificial Heat

  • Bikes

  • Tents

  • Sleeping mats

  • Hiking shoes/socks

  • Rear Lights mounted


Leave in Kayak Bag at T1

  • Tara and Soyer have throw ropes

  • PDFs

  • Paddles

  • Extra Glow Sticks

  • Booties

  • ¾ straps, take one with

  • Leave extra artificial heat if don’t need depending on temperature




Labelled bag for Box A

  • New set of dry clothes each

  • Nicer meal to eat on arrival maybe canned soups

  • Food/electrolytes for 3 Days

    • Canned soups incase we make for Dinner day 2 dinner

    • Day 3 Through day - bars and snacks, peanut butter rolls in tortillas

    • Day 3 Dinner instant mashed potatoes, rehydrated veggies, Sausage

    • Day 4 breakfast, lunch…  bars and snacks

  • PowerPack in ziplock

  • Extra Fuel

  • Extra Pair of Shoes if space

  • Extra Quick Dry Towels

  • Extra Headlamp

  • Extra Medical Supplies

    • Day 5 Dinner - should be back, but pack Ramen incase
